We are planning to sell WAAVP 2003 T-shirts at the conference. We anticipate selling them for $8 (Medium and Large) and $10 (Extra Large and Extra Extra Large).

June 4, 2003

The pre-registration deadline at the reduced rates has been extended to July 10.

Reminder to those who are making oral presentations. We will have PowerPoint presentations ONLY so please bring a ZIP disk or CD with you. We will NOT have slide projectors or overhead projectors.

May 13, 2003

The deadline for abstract submissions (not travel support applications) has been extended again until June 2nd.

Travel support applications will be reviewed after May 15th and notification is anticipated to be no later than May 30th.

The Education Workshop will be dedicated to capturing and processing video images for use in educational settings. The complexity of parasitic structures is demonstrated better using technology capable of showing depth of field and 3-D aspects, as compared to static, kodachrome images. The hope of the organizers is that some educators have already employed video images in classes, or on interactive CDs or websites, and are willing to share ideas and images during this workshop. If the parasitology educators can develop collaborative efforts in this area, we can easily share video images with each other as a means of improving the education of our students worldwide. If sufficiently successful and organized, we can arrange for subsequent WAAVP meetings to have computers and CD/DVD burners available so that we can bring our own images to the conference and leave with a variety of images we would like to have for our courses. If there are educators who would like to describe their equipment and software, or show some images during the workshop, please contact Cliff Monahan at ‘monahan.19@osu.edu’ and I will try to arrange the workshop schedule to incorporate as many as possible.

April 17, 2003

If you haven’t been notified by June 1 that your abstract/application has been received, please contact Jim Miller at jmille1@lsu.edu. All abstracts that follow the guidelines (see Scientific Information) will be accepted, so plan your travel arrangements accordingly.
